Packaging QR codes need to keep working for as long as the product is in someone’s home, often many years, so they should be dynamic codes on your own domain with no subscription that could lapse.

Packaging is printed once and kept for years
Boxes sit in warehouses, on shelves and in cupboards long after a campaign ends. A code that stops working when a subscription lapses breaks the instructions, warranty or recycling information customers rely on.
Good practice for packaging codes
Use your own domain, like qr.yourbrand.com. The printed codes then belong to you, and you can move them to another provider or your own server with your export.
One code per product line, so you can change one destination without touching the others.
Link to a stable page such as a product hub, then change what that code points to as content moves.
Turn on broken-link protection so customers see a helpful fallback page if your site goes down.
Print large enough: 2 cm minimum for close scanning, more on curved or textured surfaces.
Bulk and API
Agency includes 250 codes, 5 domains, bulk CSV and a REST API, so codes can be created from your product database. See bulk QR codes.
Frequently asked questions
Should packaging use static or dynamic QR codes?
Dynamic, for anything that might change: instructions, support pages, recycling guidance or promotions. Static codes can’t be updated once the packaging is printed.
What if we change provider later?
Put your codes on your own domain. Release the domain, load your export on your own server or our open-source redirector, and the printed codes keep working.
