Permanent QR codes

A permanent QR code is one that keeps working for as long as it’s printed; StandfastQR’s dynamic codes are paid for once and, under our Terms, are never switched off for non-payment, inactivity or scan volume.

Make it dynamic and permanent

A dynamic code lets you change where it goes after printing. From $19 / £15 / €17, paid once. No subscription, no renewals, no scan limits.

How it works

  1. Design it free

Make and download a static code in your browser. No account needed.

  2. Buy a pack once

Choose 3, 25 or 250 dynamic codes. One payment, no subscription.

  3. Print and edit any time

Change the destination whenever you like. Edits are live in about a minute.

Three years, side by side

StandfastQR Starter compared with a typical subscription QR generator over three years

What you pay over 3 years $19 once $195 to $900 (the cheapest paid plan of six large providers, billed yearly)
If you stop paying Nothing changes: there is nothing to stop paying Dynamic codes are often deactivated
Your own domain Included with Business and Agency Often a higher plan or a paid add-on
Scan limits None Some free and entry plans cap scans

Choose static when the content will never change, such as Wi-Fi details for a single router. Choose dynamic when it might: a menu, a price list, an event page, a campaign.

What “permanent” means here

We avoid the word “lifetime” unless we say exactly what it means. For StandfastQR it means this:

  1. No money trigger. Codes aren’t switched off for non-payment, because there is nothing further to pay.
  2. No inactivity trigger. A code that isn’t scanned for years still works the next time someone scans it.
  3. No scan limit. A million scans cost the same as one.
  4. No reuse. A code ID is never given to anyone else, even after you retire it.
  5. A plan for the worst case. If we ever close, you get notice, your codes keep redirecting for at least two years, and codes on your own domain keep working without us.

The full wording, including the short list of exceptions, is in the Standfast Promise and Schedule S1 of our Terms.

Frequently asked questions

Do QR codes expire?

A QR code image itself never expires. A static code holds its content directly and works for as long as that content is valid. A dynamic code holds a short link, and it stops working if the service behind that link switches it off, which many subscription services do when a plan ends.

Is a static QR code permanent?

Yes, as long as what it points to stays the same. Because the content is inside the image, nothing can switch it off, but you also can’t change it after printing. Our free generator makes static codes with no account.

How is a StandfastQR dynamic code permanent?

You pay once, so there is no subscription to lapse. Our Terms say we won’t switch a paid code off for non-payment, inactivity or scan count, and they list the only exceptions, such as abuse. Codes on your own domain don’t depend on us at all.

What happens if StandfastQR closes?

We give at least 12 months’ notice, and codes on sfqr.link keep redirecting to their last destination for at least 24 months after closing. Codes on your own domain keep working for as long as you point that domain at a copy of your export. See the promise.

Can I change a permanent dynamic code’s destination?

Yes, as often as you need. Edits take effect within about a minute. A limit of 50 destination changes per code per day protects against misuse.
