Problem

My QR code has expired. What now?

A QR code image can’t expire by itself, so an “expired” QR code is almost always a dynamic code whose provider stopped redirecting it, typically because a free trial ended or a subscription wasn’t renewed.

Make it dynamic and permanent

A dynamic code lets you change where it goes after printing. From $19 / £15 / €17, paid once. No subscription, no renewals, no scan limits.

How it works

  1. Design it free

Make and download a static code in your browser. No account needed.

  2. Buy a pack once

Choose 3, 25 or 250 dynamic codes. One payment, no subscription.

  3. Print and edit any time

Change the destination whenever you like. Edits are live in about a minute.

Why codes “expire”

There are three common reasons, all set by the provider rather than the code itself:

  1. A trial ended. Some services make dynamic codes during a free trial and deactivate them when it ends.
  2. A plan lapsed. If a renewal fails or a subscription is cancelled, some services stop redirecting.
  3. A scan limit was reached. Some free plans cap scans per code. QR TIGER’s free plan, for example, lists “500 scans per dynamic QR code” (source).

Replace it once, not every year

Frequently asked questions

Do static QR codes expire?

No. A static code holds its content inside the image, so it works for as long as that content is valid. There’s no server involved that could switch it off.

Why did my free QR code expire?

Many “free” generators actually make dynamic codes and then switch them off after a trial, after a number of scans, or unless you subscribe. Some free plans also limit scans per code.

Will a StandfastQR code expire?

No. Static codes from our generator have no expiry. Dynamic codes are paid for once and aren’t switched off for non-payment, inactivity or scan count. See what “never stops working” means.

Can I keep the same printed code?

Only through the provider that made it, if the code uses their domain. If you can reprint, choose a code you control, ideally on your own domain.
